Oradour Sur Glane was decimated in 1944 during World WarII when German soldiers arrived and murdered all of the inhabitants and then burned the entire village to the ground. It is a sobering place and is well worth a visit if only to be reminded of the results of "Man's Inhumanity to Man." There is a new visitors centre that was completed in 1999.
